Orange Grove Center recently honored outgoing board members, Avery Smith and Larry Cash, with an appreciation breakfast at the Broad Street Grill at the Chattanoogan Hotel.
Smith joined the board back in 2003, and served on the residential committee. He is a graduate of Brainerd High School and Middle Tennessee State University, where he earned a bachelor of science. He has been employed with Chattanooga Coca-Cola Bottling Company for 24 years. His current position is Key Account Manager.
The Chattanooga native is actively involved with his family, community and church. In addition to Orange Grove, he has also served on the boards of the James A. Henry YMCA, and the PTA/Parent Alliance of his son¹s school. Smith also coaches little league football, and has served as his neighborhood association¹s president, team captain for Relay for Life and March of Dime walks, a member of 100 Black Men of Chattanooga, the Chattanooga Jaycees and Phi Beta Sigma, Fraternity, Inc.
Cash, a partner at Miller & Martin, PLLC, was on the board at Orange Grove for 23 years. He was president from 1999 to 2000, and 2000 to 2001. He served on the legal committee and public relations committees, among others.
“What a delightful place the center is,” Mr. Cash said. “It is still a jewel in the community, which many folks have heard of. It is a unique and one-of-a-kind place, both in its staff, its clients, and the work done there.”
