The Sharon Thorn Music Center is made possible through a contribution from Southwire Company of Carrollton, Ga. and contributions made to the music program in memory of Sharon Thorn, writer of the Orange Grove theme song, "After All."
Southwire Company is a leading producer of wire and cable used in the distribution transmission of electricity in North America, and is a major supporter of Orange Grove by contributing to varying areas of need at the center.

The room features new ceiling tiles, insulation, a lighting system and improvements to the heating/air system. New additions include a baby grand piano; an entertainment system that includes a CD, DVD and Blue Ray player, receiver, computer, 55-inch plasma screen TV, and an in-ceiling, surround-sound speaker system; a 40-inch diameter, portable table drum for use of up to five players at one time; and a video camera and tripod system for video learning and training.
The new state-of-the art room also features SoundBeam, an award-winning device which uses sensor technology to translate body movement into digitally generated sound and image.
Children and adults with severe learning difficulties, physical impairments, or profound and multiple learning disabilities, including autism and Down syndrome, are said to benefit from the experience of converting their movements into sound with SoundBeam. (SoundBeam is funded by a grant from Community Foundation of Greater Chattanooga.)
Thank you to Southwire president, Stu Thorn, and the entire Southwire Company staff for the transformation of Music Services offered at Orange Grove Center.
