The Recreation Department at
Orange
Grove
Center
provides adaptive recreation to the Center as a whole. Each week, adaptive gym classes and adaptive aquatic classes are offered. The adaptive gym classes are offered to the Children’s Services students. Some of the activities include: seated volleyball, "popercise," kickball, broom ball, obstacle courses, relay races, etc.
The adaptive aquatic classes are offered to all service recipients at
Orange
Grove
Center.
In addition to the aquatic and gym classes, the Recreation Department hosts a dance every other Friday in the gym. Between these three activities, we serve approximately 450 clients a month.
The Recreation Department is also responsible for Special Olympics Competitions and GG Camp.
Orange Grove
Center participates in Special Olympic Bowling, Track and Field and Swimming competitions. The athletes compete at both the local and state levels.
GG Camp is held every year in June at the GG Ranch in Soddy Daisy. Campers enjoy a week of vacation that include canoeing, arts and crafts activities, sports and games, swimming and special events. GG Camp for 2008 will be May 31 - June 6.
