Dear OGC Staff,
For newer staff let me introduce myself, my name is Mike Cook, I served as executive director of Orange Grove from 1978 to 2005. My blood runs orange for a team that’s even better than the Vols. Orange Grove’s team, the staff, will forever be my heroes. What you do each day to care and support those served at Orange Grove is remarkable and worthy of praise.
You may have heard about the Firstgiving campaign at in-service last month. I have been asked to chair the staff portion of the Capital Campaign. We have named our part of the campaign “more than a job.” We feel the use of the Firstgiving to approach your friends, family, and email contacts would be the most appropriate and successful way to generate funds by staff. With a simple email or letter you can ask those you know to support our campaign to improve Center facilities and expand important services. We are making community wide proposals to local foundations, businesses, parents and friends who have been very generous in the past. With a goal of $4,775,000 we need to reach out to everyone for help. We have an impressive list of volunteers helping with these requests. Tom Cox is chairing the family group and they are also using Firstgiving in their efforts.
Very simply, we are asking that you send an email or letter asking others to help us. We have people ready to help you prepare an appropriate letter or email and believe you will find the results personally rewarding.
Watch our progress as we place an “ON BOARD” bulletin board at various locations listing those on board with this important campaign.
Leslie Smith is the staff person who is coordinating this program. Feel free to call her to learn how you can participate or ask your division director for assistance, and they will be glad to help. Leslie can be reached at 308-1160, or lesmith@orangegrove.org, or I can be reached at 842-9665, or ogcook@aol.com.
As always, thanks for all you do on behalf of Orange Grove Center….. It truly is “more than a job.”
Mike Cook
